Bike Friendly Schools distinguish themselves in the following bike initiatives and provide leadership for other schools in their efforts to develop bike friendly strategies.

·        Hosting bike events, celebrations and awareness raising

·        Implementing bike education and skill building

·        Installing bike parking for students, staff, parents and visitors

·        Introducing supportive school cycling policies

·        Increasing traffic calming and safe routes around schools

The Bike Friendly School Awards Program is a program of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition

.

Level of Awards:

Awards are earned in accordance with the number and quality of your bike friendly initiatives and actions.  

Bronze:
A minimum of one activity in at least two strategies have been put into action.

Silver:
A minimum of one activity in any 4 strategies have been put into action.

Gold:
One activity in each strategy has been put into action.

Platinum:
A school receives a Platinum award after receiving a Gold award for three or more years
